I first got into snooker after watching Joe Johnson (player from Bradford, my home town) win the world championship back in 1986.
Like a lot of people at the time, I was hooked and from that moment, I picked up a cue and never really put it down.
I’ve spent more than 40 years around the game—playing, practising, learning, and understanding what actually helps players improve.
I’ve been lucky enough to learn from Joe himself for many years, which gave me a real insight into how the game should be played properly (Picking balls out for most of it! lol) His coaching helped me win local and regional tournements including the Bradford Snooker Championship in 1994 when I was 28
What I’ve found is that a lot of players, especially beginners, get overwhelmed. There’s too much information, too many complicated ideas, and not enough simple guidance.
That’s why I started Snooker Skool, my approach is straightforward:
Keep things simple…
Focus on the basics, technique first and build confidence with pre-shot routine

Through Snooker Skool, I work with both players and clubs and focus on help beginners improve their technique.
I also work with clubs to improve table conditions, coaching for members, and create a better overall playing experience.
I’m a big believer that snooker should be enjoyable first. When you enjoy it, you improve quicker. So everything I do is based around helping people feel more confident at the table and actually enjoy playing.
There’s no overcomplication, no pressure—just honest coaching, simple methods that work, and a genuine passion for the game.
My goal is simple: To help more people play better snooker and enjoy the game the way I have for over 40 years

As a new beginner after learning the basics from Shabir like standing correctly, griping the cue right and forming a stong firm bridge, the rest became a bit easier

“It made a big diffrence to the way I got down on my shot, Shabir taught me to ‘lean’ into the shot rather than the balance on back foot, weight forward on left leg gave me a more solid stance”

After my first lesson I had my hiighest break! I don;t really believe in coincidences so I know it was about keeping down on the shot which seems to work really well for me
